Doppelganger. Great episode!! Great. A blatant fanfic prompt.
The highlights:
A lot of screentime for Dr. Keller, who is turning out to be an excellent replacement for Carson. Granted, Jewel Staite does not look old enough to be a third year med student, let alone hold a position as Chief of Medicine in another galaxy, but she still somehow manages to convince me she's up to the job. *likes*. A lot.
A sleepwalking Major Lorne, in pyjama bottoms, on bare feet and with BED HAIR.
(Side note: Col. Carter, hasn’t pulled rank on the non-regulation hair just yet. She leads by example, resulting in … this:
Heidi of the Mountain.
and another little side note: if Carter starts another sentence with “I remember back in the day at SG-1 …” I’m going to throw things. She gets that far away look in her eyes and her voice trails off and it’s annoying. Even Joe Flanigan raised an eyebrow at one point. And worse is when the writers make the others prompt her to tell about SG-1. “I remember reading you were taken over by an alien entity once?” CUE cut to commercial: BUY ALL 10 SG-1 SEASONS NOW!!! ONLY $ 350!!!)
Where was I.
Highlights.
Sheppard and Ronon confessing to Dr Keller they were sparring in the middle of the night. There's something utterly school boyish about that - especially when Sheppard gets in a lucky shot and has to take Ronon to the infirmary to get stitched up. Hmm, I love getting side tracked by our boys.
McShep squee finale: McKay and Sheppard IN EACH OTHERS SUBCONSCIOUS. OMG. How much more intimate can you get. Not a whole lot.
It starts out with a very nervous, hand wringing McKay (laying on a lab bed) warning Sheppard "I'm pretty screwed up!" and a just as nervous Sheppard (wired and on another bed) snapping “You’re telling me!” And the camera zooms in a lot.
Then, despite Sheppard's assistance inside Rodney's mind, McKay's deep seated fear of man eating whales does lead to cardiac arrest and Sheppard's FACE when he walks back to his quarters, thinking Rodney is dead is, is, is … GUYS...
and when John sees the alien entity who caused all this he goes nuts, resulting in the hardest kick-ass fight in the history of SGA.
(Two Sheppards. OMG. No words.)
The end of the scene is KILLING; McKay is now in Sheppard’s subconscious, the fight is over and McKay looks around Sheppard’s Dream Atlantis and tells Sheppard bewildered "I thought there'd be more … hot girls" and Sheppard looks intently at Rodney and breaths "yeah”.
….
*THUD*
(I’m not even mentioning how they wake up all flustered and embarrassed and giving each other “let’s continue this later” looks.)
There was more of course. A lot more. Heightmeyer, and Teyla’s grief and John’s guilt. OH, HIS GUILT!
It was magnificent. I wish I could write fanfic.
